Surf Trunks from Naruto, Tokushima: Where Craftsmanship Shines
NALUTO TRUNKS | The Art of the Swim Short
NALUTO TRUNKS is a surf trunk brand founded by Teruyoshi Yamaguchi, the second-generation owner of Yamaguchi Sewing, a swimwear manufacturer based in Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture. Combining his experience as a surfer with artisanal craftsmanship, his creations are favored not only by surfers but also by a wide range of customers.
Each pair is meticulously handcrafted, with custom orders also available. A distinctive feature is the embroidery on the patch, bearing words dear to Mr. Yamaguchi. The trunks pictured feature the message “Life is Doughnut,” signifying the importance of cherishing all circles—family, friends, and the world.
The warmth inherent in handcrafted products, combined with the gentle feel of 100% cotton, ensures exceptional comfort. Furthermore, JOURNAL STANDARD’s signature sophisticated color palette elevates these trunks into a refined item.
Crafted from 100% cotton, the meticulous hand-stitching reflects the warmth characteristic of Japanese manufacturers with a strong sense of craftsmanship. These solid-color surf trunks are an exclusive model for JOURNAL STANDARD, distinct from the navy and black of the standard WALK SHORTS. The brand's message patch is tonally matched to the body fabric.
Rugged Yet Urban—Luggage Collection That Expands Freely
Heimplanet | The Future of Outdoor Gear
Heimplanet, a German tent manufacturer, is known for innovative products like its inflatable air-frame tents that can be set up in about a minute. Their "MONOLITH" bag series, designed by founders Stefan Klaus and Stefan Dikhof—both surfers—is notable for its versatility, suitable for use not only in the mountains but also at the beach or in the city.
The series' most distinctive feature is its modular design, allowing various components to be attached like military gear. This adaptability makes it ideal for travel, business, or any purpose, offering a single solution for diverse needs. JOURNAL STANDARD has selected four highly practical models from their extensive lineup. Four sizes of detachable pouches are also available. The simple, durable design and urban black aesthetic redefine heavy-duty gear.

MONOLITH DUFFLE BAG
This 85-liter duffle bag offers three carrying options: backpack, shoulder, or hand-held. The base is made of waterproof PVC material, preventing water from seeping through, even when storing a wet umbrella.

MONOLITH WEEKENDER
Ideal for trips of one to two nights, this bag is sized for carry-on. Its thoughtful features, including a laptop compartment and a shoe bag, make it highly functional. It can even be used like a cart by attaching a skateboard.

MONOLITH BACK PACK
This backpack is perfectly suited for hiking and camping, featuring a meticulously crafted back panel, ample padding, and separable compartments. The thick shoulder straps provide a secure fit. It also includes a laptop compartment, making it suitable for business use.

MONOLITH DAY PACK, DETACHABLE POUCH L
This daypack can also be used as a briefcase by storing the shoulder straps in the back pocket. The large pouch, capable of holding an iPad, can be attached to other bags in the same series.
