Bags Designed by Shoe Designer Hiroshi Tsubouchi

Founded in Utashinai, Hokkaido, as Japan's sole equestrian equipment manufacturer, SOMÈS SADDLE celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. To commemorate this milestone, the brand has unveiled the "SOMÈS SADDLE × HT LABEL" collection, a collaboration with shoe designer Hiroshi Tsubouchi. Two models are slated for release in late April this spring.

Hiroshi Tsubouchi's First Bag Designs

SOMÈS SADDLE, renowned for crafting saddles for the world's top jockeys and earning a royal warrant from the Imperial Household, has always approached craftsmanship with sincerity. The "SOMÈS SADDLE × HT LABEL" collection expands its potential further. This collaboration joins forces with Hiroshi Tsubouchi, a designer who heads his own brand, "HIROSHI TSUBOUCHI," and also works as a freelance designer, embodying a culmination of Japanese manufacturing excellence.

The first collection from SOMÈS SADDLE × HT LABEL features two tote bags characterized by their innovative, original, yet delicate designs.

A Unique Tote for All Seasons

The "Cage" model, inspired by the "belt parts" used in equestrian gear, features a unique net-like construction. The net portion is crafted from carefully selected bridle leather, and it comes with two types of liners: one camouflage and one plain.

The liner can be secured by hooks at the crisscrossed points of the woven structure, allowing the bag's appearance to be altered by changing the liner.

Beauty Born from Simple Elements

The "Bento" model pursues simplicity through the "shibori" technique, which three-dimensionally molds a single piece of leather. While its design is composed of extremely simple elements—parts formed by "shibori" joined at the gussets and base—it represents a culmination of artisanal skill requiring high technical proficiency.
