This Spring, Sneakers Are the Definitive Choice for Your Feet
While Gucci is renowned for its iconic Horsebit loafers, sneakers are its second most popular item in Japan. The lineup is extensive, featuring everything from classic styles to seasonal items, and special Japan-exclusive series have been released annually since 2010. In recent years, sneakers themselves have become a trending item, capturing attention across generations and genders, and have earned a place in everyday wardrobes. This trend is not limited to Japan; the global fashion scene mirrors this sentiment. As evidence, Gucci's Spring/Summer 2014 collection featured sneakers coordinated with every single look.
However, the sneakers proposed by Gucci are distinct from the myriad of others available, brimming with both playfulness and elegance. The theme of the season, 'the interplay of formal and informal,' is exemplified by bold combinations, such as pairing sneakers with evening wear. This concept is most symbolically represented by these shoes, which are crafted with the same high-quality leather used for classic lace-up shoes, finished with sporty flair through traditional craftsmanship.
All are made from soft, supple calfskin leather in a single piece, with raw edges lending a relaxed feel. Available in two styles, short and mid-cut, the 'Gucci Crest' logo, inspired by heraldry, is subtly printed only on the heel. Beyond basic colors like chic black and brown leather, the collection features the key blue and yellow hues, as well as arrangements of the traditional 'Flora' pattern, which was also prominently used in the apparel. Each style offers a distinct expression depending on the color and pattern.
The shoes with the vibrant 'Flora' pattern on black leather are fully perforated, making them lighter and sportier. Additionally, the sneakers made from high-tech canvas instead of leather feature the same 'Flora' pattern, arranged in a camouflage-like style by unifying the colors. Similar fabric is used in the apparel and tote bags, making these the most emblematic items of the season. Gucci's new sneakers, which match both casual and dressy styles, are poised to significantly broaden your styling possibilities.
