Executive Stylist Shunsuke Tsurukawaya
The Latest "Preview Collection" for Adults
Shunsuke Tsurukawaya from DIESEL SHIBUYA is a customer service professional with the title of Executive Stylist, one of only eight such specialists in Japan for DIESEL. He began his career at the Harajuku store, spent five years at the Isetan Shinjuku store, and has been a key member of the DIESEL SHIBUYA opening team since its launch in November 2010. Tsurukawaya is wearing DIESEL's "Preview Collection," a unique range of items that bridge the seasons.

Tops Extend Spring, Bottoms Add Summer Flair
"The DIESEL Preview Collection bridges the gap between DIESEL's Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter collections. It offers new styles not found in the main seasons, with items designed for wear before the full onset of autumn," explains Tsurukawaya. "As it's a cross-seasonal collection, we receive limited quantities, making some pieces quite rare and exciting for our customers."
Tsurukawaya's chosen look features a shirt layered with a cardigan for the top, paired with sweatpants, and finished with deck shoes worn sockless. "For the bottoms, I focused on comfort and ease, selecting sweatpants that aren't part of the Spring/Summer collection. These pants have been very popular since they hit the floor. For the top, I combined a shirt, a key trend this season, with a double-faced cardigan that's knit on the outside and sweatshirt material on the inside."
With the temperature fluctuations between cool mornings and evenings before the height of summer, a light layer is often welcome. "This cardigan has a sweatshirt lining, making it easy to slip on and giving the impression of layering. Its trendy white color will make it a versatile piece going forward. Since the pants are casual, I opted for a shirt instead of a T-shirt to add a touch of dressed-up flair. All these items are easy to wear and highly versatile, which is why I recommend them. The Preview Collection offers pieces that I believe adults will truly appreciate."
The "DIESEL Culture" That Reflects One's Life
This is DIESEL's concept store, "unique in the world." In addition to the main DIESEL line, it features the casual line 55 DIESEL and the collection line DIESEL BLACK GOLD. The basement houses a home collection with furniture and art, a souvenir corner, and on the first floor, DIESEL's first-ever cafe & bar, "Glorious Chain Café." Each space asserts its individuality while harmonizing within the whole. Tsurukawaya visits the Glorious Chain Café twice a week, recommending it for "when you crave a truly satisfying, hearty burger."
When asked about the rewards of his job, Tsurukawaya, who has eight years of retail experience and holds the title of Executive Stylist, one of only eight in Japan, says, "What makes sales interesting is that there's no single right answer. It's not just about selling products; the real satisfaction comes when customers return for a second visit, tell me they've enjoyed wearing the clothes I recommended, or ask for my next suggestion."
When asked further about DIESEL's appeal, he notes, "It's a brand that values subcultures like art, lifestyle, and music alongside its clothing. Just as fashion trends evolve, so do the times, but DIESEL consistently creates something new, which is its captivating strength. This hasn't changed since I joined. Everything is linked through clothing, creating a fulfilling and stimulating environment. I see great potential in that aspect."
