Timeless Masterpieces Reissued in Celluloid
From the esteemed British eyewear brand Oliver Goldsmith, three models—the CONSUL-s, VICE CONSUL-s, and MUST—renowned as timeless masterpieces favored by actors Michael Caine and Peter Sellers, have been exquisitely reissued in celluloid. Enhanced Classical Texture with Celluloid, a Material for Dedicated Fans
To reiterate, celluloid is a synthetic resin born in Britain in 1856, derived from natural materials like cotton and pulp. It is characterized by its hardness, luster, scratch resistance, and resistance to deformation. While used in various items beyond eyewear frames, such as fountain pens and toys, until the mid-19th century, acetate, with its superior workability, has become the mainstream material today.
Celluloid frames, with their increased manual crafting processes, exhibit a strong sense of artistry. They possess a distinct allure compared to conventional acetate optical lines, offering superior gloss, vibrant color, and a refined texture that feels gentle against the skin.
The three models reissued in celluloid this time are notable not only for their standard colorways but also for the introduction of limited edition colors: the brand's iconic tortoiseshell pattern (DT), which accentuates Oliver Goldsmith's signature depth and traditional aesthetic, and a clear grey (CG) that offers transparency without being overly bright, characterized by its cool expression.
These products beautifully blend authentic and classic designs with the retro atmosphere only celluloid can provide, enhancing their inherent appeal. The frames project an air of dignified composure.
