Founded in 1965 by Eric Kreis, who earned his Meister title that year, KREIS now produces a wide range of items, from leather belts to wallets and bags. Inspired by Alden shoes, they began using select cordovan from the American tannery HORWEEN, and production takes place in Frankfurt, Germany.

At Lakota, we advocate for matching shoes and belts in the same material and color. To complement Alden's new "Michigan Boot," we commissioned a belt using HORWEEN's oiled leather, "UTICA." The lining is made from premium German vegetable-tanned cowhide, resulting in a supple and elegant belt. Notice the casual buckle as well.

Designed to Showcase Cordovan's Qualities

KREIS's bi-fold wallet, designed to highlight the luster, thickness, and suppleness of cordovan, features a unique construction with no visible stitching except for the iconic white stitch on the surface. The outer leather is the classic HORWEEN cordovan, while the lining uses premium calfskin from the renowned German tannery, Perlinger. By not bonding the lining, the wallet achieves a simple, stitch-free design.

This mini wallet, made with HORWEEN cordovan, features a coin compartment and two card slots. The card slots use kangaroo leather, which is thin yet durable and lightweight, pairing perfectly with cordovan. It also includes a pocket for bills, making it ideal for quick outings.
