First Autumn/Winter Collection Embodies Brand Concept

Designer Naohiro Fujisaki established the brand with the concept, “Clothing is a tool, not a costume.” He describes the brand, meanswhile, as, “We develop products that imbue fashion’s characteristic decorative details with functionality.”

Meaningful Clothing as Tools for Everyday Life

──What is the theme/concept for the 2015-16 Autumn/Winter collection?

For this season, our third, we again present a collection aligned with our brand concept, without a specific theme. We develop products that imbue superficial and baseless aspects of fashion with functionality. Questioning the current state where the word 'fashion' is sometimes derided as superficial or meaningless, we aim to create clothing that is meaningful as a tool for everyday life.

Furthermore, we engage in various approaches, such as participating in joint exhibitions for end-user orders utilizing crowdfunding, in collaboration with other genres.

──What were your points of focus for this season's lookbook shoot, and what should people pay attention to?

We focused on the balance between image shots that convey the overall look and shots that highlight the details. As the products are intended for everyday wear, we are careful not to make them too outlandish, so we hope you will pay attention to the new proposals in styling.

──What are the differences from last year's Autumn/Winter collection in terms of styling, silhouette, and color?

Last year, it was presented as an autumn exhibition, so this season is our first Autumn/Winter collection. As it is still our third season, we are striving to express our brand concept.

──What is the key look (coordination) for this season?

The vest in the photo on the left is designed with side zips that allow it to be worn over outerwear. We aim to propose a new balance by layering it over a coat.

Items Embodying the Brand Concept

──What are the key items and key colors?

The key items are the vest, coach jacket, and neck warmer. These are items that embody the brand concept, with functionality integrated into designs that might seem unconventional.

To minimize expression through patterns and colors, and to allow the details to be seen, almost all items are available in two colors: navy and beige.

──What "materials" did you focus on this season?

It's a cotton dobby weave created with threads having more than double the difference in thickness. By intentionally weaving the fabric with a raised texture, it creates an air layer when worn as an inner layer for insulation, and becomes breathable when worn as an outer layer, imbuing the natural cotton fiber with functionality.

──Please express "this season's mood" in one word.

Basic.

──What stimulates the creativity of the brand (designer)?

Everything in nature. I am inspired by forms that have come into being naturally.
