Autumn/Winter Collection Themed "Color and Color"

ITTY-BITTY, a brand that champions "timeless craftsmanship, unaffected by the trends of the era." The clothing, designed by Tomoyo Yonezawa and Masanori Uda, redefines men's fashion through a novel sense of balance in universally appealing items.

Proposing Styles with a Hint of Futurism

──What was the theme/concept for the 2015-16 Autumn/Winter collection?

The theme is "Color and color." This season, we focused on achieving flat color tones that are difficult to attain with simple dyeing.
At first glance, the warp and weft threads are so close in color that it appears to be a solid dye. We also created depth in the color by juxtaposing contrasting hues to form the fabric's structure.

──What were your priorities for this season's lookbook shoot, and what should people pay attention to?

To highlight our vision of modern style, we incorporated natural light on the floor and background to add texture. In terms of styling, we avoided stark color contrasts, instead proposing styles with a subtle futuristic feel, perhaps best described as a blend of material texture and a hint of the future.

──What are the differences in styling, silhouette, and color compared to last year's Autumn/Winter collection?

Last year, we presented a clean, wholesome style centered on navy, beige, and white. This season, we've lowered the overall tone with gray as the base, exploring a more modern style with less contrast.

──What is the key look (coordination) for this season?

The look on the left in the photo above features a long coat, a style for which we release new designs each season. This season, it's a long, below-the-knee Chester coat, designed to be worn open without front buttons or a belt. We've expressed the brand's current aesthetic by pairing this coat with various shades of gray from this season's palette.

Focus on Gray Tones This Season

──What are the key items and key colors?

Gray is the key color. We've put a lot of effort into the variations of gray. We aimed to create a gray that wasn't just a top-dyed shade but a dyed gray, a seemingly solid gray, and have expressed this through charcoal gray with reddish undertones in various materials.

──What "materials" did you focus on this season?

Gabardine weave melton.
We've luxuriously used high-quality, rare raw materials typically found in fine-count luxury suit fabrics. Unlike the conventional melton production method, which achieves density and thickness through fulling, we increase the density during the greige stage and then minimize fulling to create a clear finish with distinct twill lines. (This method is significantly more costly than usual and therefore not common.)
Although it's a fabric woven with relatively fine yarns for melton, packed densely, the use of extremely delicate and high-quality raw materials results in a finish that is thick and dense yet soft and supple.

──Please describe this season's mood in one word.

I feel like something significant is about to begin.

──What inspires the brand's (designers') creativity?

Encounters with people, products, and art.
