New Styles Born from Quality Materials and Craftsmanship
MACLIR
JOURNAL STANDARD’s New Creative Endeavor: The Birth of MACLIR—Rather than a new brand, this is a name and symbol for a new initiative. It originated from a desire to re-examine the creation of goods through natural materials and factories. In terms of design, the motif of Mac Lir (a sea god from Celtic mythology) was chosen as a symbol for a yacht club, inspired by a fictional yacht team. Many of the items are based in white, blue, and navy.
For this feature, JOURNAL STANDARD Omotesando’s fashion advisor, Yoshitsugu Terashi, models the collection. The striped knit shown here is made from 100% organic cotton, with a relaxed silhouette featuring a slightly generous width and sleeve length.
Furthermore, details like the hand-embroidered patch on the left shoulder showcase meticulous craftsmanship. Terashi notes, “I’ve paired it with shorts today, but it would also look good with slim trousers. Above all, it’s incredibly comfortable to wear. It’s a piece you can use as casually as a polo shirt.” The shorts, meanwhile, are crafted from 14-wale corduroy woven in Hamamatsu and indigo-dyed in Okayama. To achieve a unique texture, the corduroy is oriented horizontally.
MACLIR proposes a new style born from the pursuit of craftsmanship, characterized by its basic design, the rich texture of its superior materials, and the elegance derived from skillful construction. The comfortable fit is noticeable the moment you try it on.—These are items that should be worn first by those seeking the ultimate relaxation that conforms to the body.
