Reinterpreting Korean Traditional Dress with a Modern Edge

The 2016 Cruise Collection Held in a Futuristic Space Designed by Zaha HadidKarl Lagerfeld boldly reinterpreted the traditional styles of Korea with a contemporary flair. Inspired by the Korean traditional garment 'hanbok,' the collection featured avant-garde looks that elevated Korean culture into modern fashion, including jackets and high-waisted dresses reminiscent of the 'chima jeogori.' Geometric patchwork was also effectively used, skillfully weaving Asian culture into the collection.

From Japan, Rinko Kikuchi, Namie Amuro, and Nana Komatsu were in attendance, alongside international celebrities such as Kristen Stewart, Tilda Swinton, Gaspard Ulliel, Gisele Bündchen, and Isabelle Huppert. Naturally, many Korean stars, including BIGBANG's G-Dragon and Taeyang, were also present.

The after-party featured DJ sets by Tim Sweeney and Mademoiselle Yulia, as well as a live performance by French musician Ceron, further energizing the atmosphere.
