Early Summer in New York

This photo was taken in June 2005. We were near Professor Sakamoto's home because he agreed to model for the image visuals for the launch of UNITED ARROWS' (UA) new line, 'DARJEELING DAYS'.Ryuichi SakamotoThe limousine was chartered by a UNITED ARROWS staff member who said, 'Let's get into the mood,' and 'It'll be more efficient than taking three taxis.'
It was a surprisingly fitting situation for the white jacket and combo look. The white jacket is from Balenciaga. I liked its slim sleeves and wore it every day around that time.
The shoes are GUCCI, bought in Sardinia just before this shoot. I flew from Milan to Sardinia, but my luggage was lost on that short flight, so I had to buy them in a hurry on Sardinia's street for the wealthy. It was a place that mostly sold GUCCI and PRADA, and for men, only GUCCI. Most of them were perfect resort wear GUCCI, but I liked these ones and bought them. It was the season of John Ray's first collection. Nostalgic.
I also bought a bit-patterned shirt, like Yasushi Yokoyama's, and swimwear. It was a rather rare shopping experience, not something that usually happens. Now, to get back to the topic, next are the polo shirts. These are Dior Homme, from Spring/Summer 2004. The S size was sold out, so this is an M. It's a bit loose, so it doesn't quite look like Dior Homme.
The pants were specially made for me by the Japanese company that was making Dior Homme jeans at the time (laughs). I asked them to make them as white as possible, and this is what they came up with. The thickness was just right, and I wore them all the time. They were wonderful pants for me. The photos inside the restaurant are from 'Matsuri,' a Japanese restaurant we went to afterward. A smiling two-shot with Chef Tadashi Ono.
