In Dubai

This photo was taken in February of this year. After the Paris Men's Collection in January, I flew straight to Dubai to shoot for BRUTUS magazine. This time, I was in charge of styling, casting, and even photography. For the fashion special issues of BRUTUS, which I contribute to twice a year, we often travel to unusual locations for shoots.
This time it was Dubai, before that it was Tenerife in the Canary Islands, and most recently I visited St. Moritz in Switzerland… I’ve shot in so many different locations. I’ve also been to Miami, Brazil, Berlin, and Dublin. Of course, I’ve been to London, New York, and Los Angeles too. I’ve met so many different people and worked with so many different teams all over the world. This column will feature many records of those past experiences.
This time, we went to the desert in Dubai and visited a camp where people still maintain a nomadic lifestyle while entertaining tourists. He was a typical Islamic-style falconer. With him, even a wild, struggling falcon would instantly become obedient and calm. As I looked through the lens at his face, Hiro Tsunoda’s image came to mind, and I could hear his passionate cry of “Merry Jeee~n!” echoing in my head. Hiro Tsunoda, alone in the desert…
Now, the T-shirt I’m wearing is a rock tee from Lad Musician. I own about 10 shirts from the same series, but this is the most standard type, featuring a close-up of John Lydon’s face. There are also versions with different expressions and prints of Sid Vicious. I love the color combination of white with fluorescent pink, and the original Lad Musician T-shirt pattern fits my body well, so I still wear it frequently. Of course, if I gain a little weight, it starts to look like an older man trying too hard to look young, which is a no-go… I have to be careful about my waistline.
The pants are chinos from Cicata. These have been a heavily rotated item in my wardrobe over the past year, and I already own four pairs. The designer, Licht, is a friend I often drink with. These chinos are a staple, so I make minor requests for changes each season. The sandals are Bottega Veneta with crocodile straps. I always bring these on my trips; they double as hotel slippers and are also convenient for wearing outside in certain situations.
