Joshua and Kinkaku-ji
This must have been April 2006. I was in Kyoto for a "TAKEO KIKUCHI" advertising shoot.
While scouting locations, I took advantage of some free time to take the model, Joshua, to Kinkaku-ji.
Joshua said he was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.
I first met Joshua for a shoot in Miami in December 2005. His signature look was rapper style, and the black t-shirt he's wearing today, though not visible in the photo, reaches his knees.
I asked if it wasn't too big, but he just replied, "No, this one's actually on the smaller side."
I believe it was an Unbill triple extra-large. It looked more like a dress.
Below the knees, the baggy jeans hung loosely, revealing the hems. They were a light blue.
I forget the brand, or rather, I forgot to ask.
I think his sneakers were white Nike Air Max.
Even Joshua, with his rather flamboyant style, was genuinely impressed by Kinkaku-ji.
This is a smiling shot he would never show in his modeling photos.
I was wearing a short trench coat from HAUTE and a t-shirt from Thomas Maier.
I don't recall my bottoms since they aren't in the shot, but I believe they were Yves Saint Laurent blue jeans with a center crease, and white canvas sneakers by Kim Jones.
It had been since the sixth grade since I last visited Kinkaku-ji, so it felt quite fresh.
I was so taken by it that I impulsively bought a souvenir t-shirt with Kinkaku-ji printed on it from the gift shop...
Joshua bought something like a teacup, saying, "A souvenir for Mom."
Joshua, choosing a teacup while wearing that triple extra-large t-shirt – it was a great sight.
Ah, I wonder where my Kinkaku-ji t-shirt is now and what it's doing? I feel like I haven't seen it since I bought it.
It's probably somewhere in my jungle (closet).
