At Mameya Genzo in Kyoto
It’s quite relaxing here.
This is a restaurant along the Kamo River in Kyoto.
It’s a renovated geisha house, specializing in yuba dishes. The name is Mameya Genzo.
I believe the shoot was in the autumn of 2004.
I had come for the opening reception of GUCCI in Osaka that evening, but I made a detour to Kyoto and had lunch with Hohon Kinjo, with whom I’ve been acquainted for many years.
Hohon and I have known each other for over 20 years now.
Whenever I return to Kyoto, I always contact him, and each time he takes me to a new restaurant or bar.
My outfit that day was:
A Balenciaga V-neck sweater and a Jil Sander V-neck T-shirt from when Milan Vukmirovic was the creative director. The fabric was cut on the bias, making it incredibly comfortable to wear.
For pants, I wore Abercrombie & Fitch military pants, which I favored around that time.
I alternated between the lightweight camouflage pattern and these heavy, plain versions; everything feels so nostalgic now.
As for the current status of these items, they’re all on the bench, so to speak, serving as closet warmers.
