“The limited number of items in menswear. I love its history and tradition.”
Ayumi Sugita, Staff at Heliopole Ginza
These jeans, selected by Ayumi Sugita, a staff member at Heliopole Ginza, are from BETWOIN, a favored Italian pant brand at Heliopole. This spring, they've also released washed color pants in beautiful shades like sax, purple, lime green, and white, perfect for resort-style outfits.

A Silhouette That Looks Sharp Even on Women
Ayumi Sugita, now in her second year at Heliopole, wears denim from Betwin, a brand started in 2004 in the suburbs of Naples, Italy. “When I wear them, they feel a bit wide, but they have a nicely tapered, slim silhouette with a shallow rise and a compact waist. The fabric is characterized by its stretch from the hip to the back of the thigh. They feature a crease, which is unusual for men's denim. The dressy, moderately distressed finish creates a sophisticated look. I love them because the three-dimensional silhouette makes the overall shape easy to perfect,” she recommends.
The Ginza store offers many casual items, including Heliopole's original pieces, that can be enjoyed when paired with items like jackets, much like Betwin's denim. “Many of our male customers in Ginza are fashion-conscious, know exactly what they want, and often come with a specific purchase in mind. Conversely, our female customers tend to enjoy window shopping or have been loyal patrons for a long time,” says Sugita.
The male customer base ranges widely from their 20s to their 50s and 60s. “In customer service, I focus on drawing out what customers implicitly want to wear or own through conversation. I strive to deliver exactly what they are looking for.”
Sugita finds Teru Ito to be a stylish celebrity. “At first glance, his color combinations seem eccentric and flashy, but upon closer inspection, they are exquisitely matched. He also possesses the individuality and knowledge to pull off such items. Although it's far from my own style (laughs), I learn a lot just by observing him.”
Regarding the appeal of menswear, Sugita explains, “For instance, even in the smallest details like buttons or facings, there’s always a clear reason, and that reason has carried over into current clothing. Within a limited range of items like jackets, shirts, pants, coats, and vests, I love how the world of history and tradition is expressed alongside current trends.”
We want you to rediscover the charm of tradition as proposed by Heliopole.
