ESTNATION | Akemi Watanabe, the star of "Estnation Ginza Store"
ESTNATION
“I like a mannish style that can also suit customers in suits.”
Akemi Watanabe, Staff at ESTNATION Ginza Store
On March 2nd, ESTNATION opened its first store outside of Tokyo, ESTNATION Nagoya Store. Located on the third floor of Lachic in Sakae, the new shop offers a wide selection of items, from the latest in men's and women's fashion to cosmetics, fragrances, and fashion accessories. This feature introduces Akemi Watanabe, who is in charge of the men's floor in the basement of the ESTNATION Ginza Store. What are the charms of menswear as seen by this fresh 25-year-old, who celebrated her first anniversary in December last year?

Seeking Encounters and Experiences Through Work
Watanabe joined ESTNATION with no prior experience in fashion sales. When asked about her reasons for joining, she explained, "A major factor in choosing ESTNATION was that the company's future vision, which I heard during my interview, aligned with my own thinking. Also, ESTNATION's 'EN' signifies connection, and I wanted to experience not just selling fashion, but also the serendipitous encounters and various connections that come with this job."
"When I was first assigned to the men's floor, I was honestly a bit lost. I didn't understand men's sizing, and the trends were different from womenswear, so I learned a great deal from my customers. However, as I came to understand the enduring basics and the individual preferences of each customer, I realized the depth of menswear and found it fascinating. I've learned that by taking the time to provide thorough customer service, we can build strong relationships through fashion," she says with a smile.
Today's outfit features an ESTNATION original mannish I-line coat as the main piece, paired with a bow-tie blouse from ESTNATION bis, ESTNATION original glen check pants, and a Tateossian bracelet for an accent. "I often create a mannish look that can also suit customers in suits, while adding a touch of feminine softness," says Watanabe.
For the Spring/Summer collection, she is particularly interested in the separate suit proposals in cotton and denim, and adult casual wear with a traditional mindset, using vintage materials treated with techniques like garment dyeing and washing. "Please take a look at ESTNATION's key items, such as the Gianfranco Bommezadri suits in the trending royal blue color, and J.W. BRAIN's linen easy pants."
Watanabe often draws inspiration for men's styling from overseas street snaps in fashion magazines. "While a neat appearance is wonderful, I'm drawn to men who have a slightly undone, alluring style."
"For those who want to enjoy fashion, or even for those seeking a bit of stimulation, please visit the men's floor at the Ginza store as you might visit an art museum. We have a lineup of distinctive entertainers, and our two female staff members will welcome you with smiles. Leave your spring wardrobe, which will boost your appeal, to us."
