The First Shoes That Made Me Think, "British Shoes Are Wonderful"

I wore Church's shoes, which BEAMS F carried, frequently from around 1978, the year after BEAMS F opened, to about 1980. I bought the same designs; my preferred styles are similar (laughs).

I particularly love the single-vamp Church's without medallions. They have an elegant, refined appearance, like those worn by the legendary Fred Astaire, and I wore them very often.

Church's were the first shoes that made me think, "British shoes are wonderful," so they hold a special place in my heart. I also like their solid appearance; I used to wear them with white jeans and a tweed jacket.

The Ideal Way to Die

My ideal way to die is to pass away peacefully and suddenly (laughs). Old age, written as 'after aging,' doesn't seem that different to me. I intend to keep working for as long as I can.

I believe in reincarnation. The soul is eternal. Many people don't believe in reincarnation, but the people around me now have protected me in past lives. You know the term 'soulmates,' right?

Being reborn immediately after dying would probably be the most greedy thing to do (laughs).

CROCKETT & JONES TRUNK SHOW Held
