Kyoto: A City of Intrigue
I don't travel much for leisure, but lately, I've been spending my weekends in Kyoto.
Why Kyoto?
I'm drawn to the water in Kyoto. The river flowing through the city center creates a wonderful riverside environment.
The abundance of antique shops, the proximity of Shinto and Buddhist religions, and the way people live amidst history—it all speaks to a deep-rooted culture. Growing up in Tokyo, I don't feel like I'm living on top of history.
The food is also truly delicious, with a consistently high standard. I'm still exploring the culinary scene, but it's remarkable to have excellent soba, Chinese, and sushi restaurants within walking distance of my accommodation.
Kyoto is a city where historical power, scholarship, and art converge, creating a fascinating blend. That's likely its allure.
