Fashion Fills the Gaps in Our Hearts

March 11th, 2:46 PM. I was on the Shinkansen platform at Shinagawa Station.

My wife was scheduled to arrive on the 2:50 PM train from Tokyo Station and meet me in Shinagawa, but the earthquake struck, and I ended up waiting at Shinagawa Station for three and a half hours.

After that, it took me two and a half hours to walk to Tokyo Station to pick up my wife, then another walk from Tokyo Station to our headquarters to get the car, and I finally arrived home at 2 AM.

When I felt the earthquake at Shinagawa Station, I thought, "It's finally happened."

United Arrows has been operating with the belief that we must take the lead in economic recovery, with the theme of normalizing economic activity and rebuilding from a very early stage after the earthquake.

Especially in fashion, I strongly feel its power to heal through purchasing and to fill the gaps in our hearts, as seen in the trends following the earthquake.

My honest impression is that we are in a very difficult situation with difficult things having happened. However, the government's response since the earthquake has been, as many probably feel, lacking in energy. I wish for a cabinet and organization that is suited to overcoming the current challenges swiftly.

Looking ahead, as summer approaches, I am very concerned about the energy situation with planned power outages.
