Masks to Protect Healthcare Workers on the Front Lines of Treatment Will Be Distributed Free of Charge to Local Medical Facilities
Louis Vuitton has repurposed its ateliers in Marsac, Sandonnaud (Drôme), Saint-Pourçain (Allier), Ducey (Manche), and Sainte-Florence (Vendée) for the production of medical protective masks. In response to a request from the French government to expand the production of medical protective masks to curb the spread of coronavirus, 300 skilled Louis Vuitton atelier artisans will be involved in the operation.
Michael Burke, Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, officially decided to commence production after inspecting the Sainte-Florence atelier. This atelier has already deployed 22 volunteer artisans who began manufacturing masks to protect healthcare workers on the front lines of treatment.
These medical protective masks have received approval from various regulatory bodies and are produced in partnership with Mode Grand Ouest, which supplies the mask's raw materials through its network with the local textile industry. Michael Burke, visiting the Sainte-Florence atelier, expressed his gratitude for the significant contributions of the volunteers, stating, "As a leading French brand, Louis Vuitton is committed to dedicating its efforts to mask production and protecting those on the front lines of healthcare. The masks produced will be distributed free of charge to local medical facilities. This initiative is the result of a wonderful collaboration with the regional textile sector."
Ms. Correia, director of the Malpa nursing home in Sainte-Florence, and Mr. Gaboriau, director of the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul care home in Essarts-en-Bocage, who received the newly produced masks, greeted Michael Burke and the volunteer artisans at the atelier.
