HIVIX: A Washable, Airtight Mask That Prevents Stuffiness by Releasing Humidity

Highbix, which uses welded elastic plastic sheets, has launched the "Seamless Mask," featuring seamless processing and a high-performance filter.

The spread of the coronavirus has led to shortages of medical supplies and masks. Highbix, with its facilities and technology for creating airtight bags that prevent air and water leakage, stepped up to see what they could do with their expertise in this challenging situation.
Their focus turned to masks. Highbix, possessing materials with airtightness and flexibility, as well as filter materials for air purification, began developing masks to address the shortage.
The resulting "Seamless Mask" combines airtight, stretchy material with welded construction—no sewing—for a natural fit. It prevents the spread and infiltration of droplets, while the replaceable electrostatic filter balances comfortable breathing with protection from fine particles. It can also be washed and reused.
The urethane material used offers high water resistance, comparable to skiwear, yet also high moisture permeability, releasing humidity and preventing stuffiness. The part that touches the skin is made from a Y-shaped cross-section polyester yarn, known for its excellent moisture-wicking and quick-drying properties, often used in sportswear.
The replaceable filter utilizes a high-performance electrostatic material that forms an electric field, attracting fine particles as air passes through. This achieves both comfortable breathing and protection from fine particles.
