Built-in natural pulp water-retaining sheet for cooling comfort
OSHIN, a manufacturer based in Fukui Prefecture with divisions for bedding and medical supplies, has launched the "Water Mask" for use when wet, as a measure against heatstroke for the height of summer, with mask-wearing becoming increasingly common.

Moisten the mask for a cooling sensation through evaporative cooling
The "Water Mask" was developed by integrating OSHIN's expertise from its bedding and medical divisions. By incorporating a natural pulp water-retaining sheet into the mask, soaking it in water, wringing it out, and then wearing it, the evaporation of moisture draws heat from the surroundings, providing a comfortable cooling sensation around the mouth.
The exterior is made of cloth material, and the interior is made of mesh material, allowing it to be washed and reused. It comes in four colors: beige, pink, blue, and green, and is available in adult (12x16 cm) and children's (9x14 cm) sizes.
In March 2020, OSHIN began producing masks using gauze made from bedding fabric to address mask shortages. They donated 10,000 masks to their local community in Fukui Prefecture and continue to sell them nationwide through their online shop.
