A Magnifying Glass Motif on Every Clip, Essential for Any Detective

Montblanc's Writers Series pays homage to the imagination and cultural impact of great literary figures. For 2021, the spotlight shines on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930), born in Scotland.
Conan Doyle is celebrated for his prolific output, including over 60 stories featuring the beloved detective Sherlock Holmes. Though he studied medicine and practiced as a physician, his passion for storytelling led him to create nearly 200 works, encompassing novels, short stories, poetry, historical accounts, and pamphlets.
His adventurous spirit also led him to distant lands, including the Arctic and Africa. During the Boer War, he served as a doctor in Africa and authored chronicles advocating for the British cause. His contributions were recognized with a knighthood from King Edward VII.
The collection comprises four editions, each featuring a clip designed as a magnifying glass, an indispensable tool for solving mysteries and uncovering clues. Furthermore, each nib is engraved with Doyle's portrait, and every edition comes with a special story inspired by its theme.

The "Special Edition," crafted from precious resin, is adorned with a pattern inspired by the original tartan of Sherlock Holmes. It also features a map depicting "Upper Wimpole Street," where Doyle practiced medicine, and "Baker Street," Holmes's residence, all in a deep gray hue reminiscent of London's frequent fog, often described in his mysteries.
The "Limited Edition 1902," produced in just 1902 pieces, commemorates the year "The Hound of the Baskervilles," one of the most famous Sherlock Holmes novels, was first published, and also the year Doyle was knighted by the British Crown. Its design evokes the pipes favored by Holmes.
The "Limited Edition 97" draws inspiration from the stained-glass windows of Undershaw, Doyle's home in Surrey where many of his works were written. Named after 1897, the year the house was completed, this edition is strictly limited to 97 pieces.
Furthermore, the "Limited Edition 8" is inspired by Doyle's voyage as a ship's doctor on a whaling vessel to the Arctic Circle at the young age of 20. Limited to just eight pieces, this exquisite art piece features a clip adorned with a sapphire at its apex, symbolizing icebergs.
To complete this tribute to Conan Doyle, a variety of other items are also available. These include a red ink bottle inspired by "A Study in Scarlet," the first appearance of Sherlock Holmes; a notebook featuring Doyle's signature on a map of London streets; and a pen pouch embossed with a pattern of street maps and tartan.
