U.S. Keds and PASS THE BATON Collaboration Sneakers Using Nippon Maru's Sailcloth



From "PASS THE BATON," a contemporary select recycle shop with the concept of "NEW RECYCLE," comes a collaborative sneaker with U.S. Keds, made from sailcloth previously used on the "Nippon Maru," a symbolic sailing ship of Yokohama. This special edition, "Nippon Maru Sailing Ship 30 Years Anniversary U.S. Keds × PASS THE BATON 1960’s Mainsail Boat Shoe," commemorates the 85th anniversary of the ship's launch and the 30th anniversary of its public display. It will be available in limited quantities starting Tuesday, April 28th.

Limited Edition of Only 500 Pairs


The Nippon Maru is a training sailing ship built in 1930. It was in service until 1984, circumnavigating the globe 45.4 times for a total distance of 1.83 million kilometers, and trained 11,500 cadets. Since April 1985, it has been preserved in its active state in a stone dock in the Minato Mirai 21 district and is open to the public. Through maritime classes that allow visitors to experience life aboard and full sail demonstrations, it conveys the wonder and enjoyment of sailing ships.



This collaboration sneaker, created to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the Nippon Maru's launch and the 30th anniversary of its public display, is a joint effort between the long-established American sneaker brand "U.S. Keds" and the select recycle shop "PASS THE BATON." The "Mainsail Boat Shoe," an iconic model from U.S. Keds, has been reproduced with details from its original 1960s release. It comes with an original cloth case and will be released in a limited quantity of only 500 pairs.
