Exquisite Handmade Pieces Embodying the ACTUS Philosophy
The "Exhibition of Exquisite Handmade Furniture to Cherish for a Lifetime" features "AOYAMA," designed by Naoto Fukasawa for ACTUS and Maruni Wood Industry; "HORSE SHOE," crafted from fine mahogany with a Nordic design; "H.W.F," which carries on the traditional Nordic craftsmanship into the modern era; and meticulously restored Danish used furniture, among other selections.
Discover Furniture That Enriches Daily Life
The chairs from Naoto Fukasawa's "AOYAMA" series are remarkably lightweight at 4.2kg, designed to reduce daily stress for the user. Despite the thin, 8mm wooden seat, the subtly angled seat and the gently curved backrest that conforms to the body offer immediate seating comfort.
The "HORSE SHOE" chair is a masterpiece born from a collaboration with a Nordic designer, utilizing rare mahogany. Named "HORSE SHOE" for its top-down appearance resembling a horseshoe, this piece was designed by the globally acclaimed Danish designer Hans Sandgren Jakobsen. Hans Sandgren Jakobsen, known for his ability to converse with artisans as an equal, states, "The secret to creating truly beautiful designs lies in the process of engaging with materials and craftsmen."
Then there is "H.W.F," where contemporary designers revive vintage furniture, inheriting the skills, care, and dedication of past artisans. While Danish used furniture is a finite resource, ACTUS reproduces these pieces using the exact same processes as the craftsmen half a century ago, who meticulously created furniture to be loved for generations. These pre-owned pieces, bearing the marks of time—scratches, stains, fading—offer a profound sense of the life and history they have shared with their owners.
