"UTSU-WA?" (utsu-wa.com) is a project launched in 2011 by four women: Ayako Ina, a writer passionate about ceramics; Etsuko Suzuki of Angle Pictures, with ties to film and food; Masayo Funakoshi, chef at Kyoto's "Kiln" and active globally; and Naomi Yokoyama, an editor who enjoys food and sake. They host occasional secret dinners that celebrate ceramics and cuisine, fostering enjoyment of WA (harmony, circle, conversation...).

For this event, UTSU-WA? with Shikama Fine Arts "Utsuwa to Shoku no EAST & WEST," cups and saucers made at the Leach Pottery, founded by the British potter Bernard Leach who aimed to fuse Eastern and Western aesthetics, will be served with coffee.

Additionally, contemporary ceramic artists Moriyasu Hirayama and Yoji Yamada, who follow in Leach's tradition, have been invited to present their works, which will be paired with a special menu prepared by "Kiln" chef Masayo Funakoshi.

Furthermore, a talk session is planned with Naoto Shikama, owner of "Shikama Fine Arts," and the participating ceramic artists. Items on display and for sale will be available for purchase (Leach Pottery items are limited in quantity and subject to lottery for multiple applications; shipping will be arranged later).
