Unique horses born from sofa and chair off-cuts and remnants

The "off-cut collection," released this September by Dutch design manufacturer Thomas Eyck, is particularly noteworthy. Among its pieces, we focus on the decorative item "gelderlander," created by Christien Meindertsma.

Gelderland, founded in 1936, is a Dutch furniture manufacturer renowned for its popular sofas and chairs, crafted with durable materials for high quality and longevity.
While waste is minimized during their manufacturing process, the resulting off-cuts and remnants are given new life.
The concept was devised by Dutch designer Christien Meindertsma. Her solution is this horse-shaped objet d'art, the "gelderlander."
This piece draws inspiration from the "Gelderlander," a horse breed developed in the Netherlands, and the common characteristics of furniture manufactured by Gelderland. Both are known for their steadfast, obedient nature and long lifespan.
Each horse utilizes fabric remnants from upholstery used in sofas and chairs, meaning few pieces share the same pattern, making selection a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Even minor imperfections like loose threads or fabric creases contribute to each piece's unique story. These are items to be chosen with care, perfect for your home or as a gift.
