The works, titled “felt rich,” are created by Yoko Ueno Lewis. Using 3mm thick, 100% wool felt made in Germany, she crafts them without thread or needle, joining the pieces at specific points with Chicago screws—aluminum screws used to fasten architectural drawings.
These pieces are characterized by the firmness and resilience unique to thick wool felt, ranging from practical bags to three-dimensional artworks. All works are made from a single 12x9 inch felt sheet, ensuring no waste. As felt is a natural, 100% wool material, it is also eco-friendly, returning to the earth.
The solo exhibition “Feel Felt” features 100% German wool felt pochettes, pouches, wrist bags, and organizers (trays), each available in eight colors. Yoko Ueno Lewis, the artist, states, “This is an introduction to original designs that combine the rich texture of wool felt with American Chicago screws (screws) used to fasten architectural drawings. Please come and experience them firsthand.”
