The Mysterious and Beautiful "Floating Vase / RIPPLE"
From "oodesign," a studio that develops product designs offering new discoveries born from materials and forms, while considering both the extension and transformation of everyday life, comes the "Floating Vase / RIPPLE," a small, water-floating vase for single flowers, shaped like ripples. The product has now been released.

The stem is secured by sandwiching it in the central slit, then gently floated in water held in a preferred vessel.──As the flower drifts, the scene subtly shifts with the slightest air currents, and the ripple-like form is endlessly captivating to behold.
The prototype for this "Floating Vase / RIPPLE"DESIGNTIDE TOKYO 2010was presented at the event. This product is the result of refinements to the design and size, along with improvements to the manufacturing process.
Designer Taku Omura shared this special comment for OPENERS: "When I once received flowers, I struggled because I didn't have a suitable vase. The idea for this design came from wondering if there was a way to elegantly stand a flower without needing a proper vase. I realized that by detaching the flower from the vase itself, one only needs to consider the boundary between the water and the stem. While this product is a modest item, it allows one to easily incorporate flowers into daily life. Everyone likely has a glass or bowl, even without a vase. Why not try displaying a single small flower?"
