Merging with Japan's traditional crafts to create a singular, minimalist worldview | T.A.S

T.A.S

Repeating "TEST AND SET"
Aiming for Flawless Craftsmanship

The brand name "T.A.S" originates from the computer command "TEST AND SET." Like a command that repeatedly tests, it embodies the aspiration for flawless craftsmanship. It fuses the European approach of merging traditional and cutting-edge techniques with a minimalist design, adding a touch of Japan's ancient aesthetic to realize contemporary craftsmanship.

This Season's New Items: Japanese Fragrances

T.A.S proposes fashion not merely as clothing, but as lifestyle items akin to bags, hats, and room fragrances. Consequently, new products are unveiled according to collection periods, though clothing itself is not produced during these times. The brand conceptually expresses its work through music and photography, offering a total spatial experience each season while pursuing serene and minimalist craftsmanship. This is the T.A.S attitude.

Director Tetsuya Ando was born in 1979. He honed his skills as Chief Production Manager at the domestic brand JULIUS until 2011, after which he launched T.A.S in August 2011.

The brand is characterized by its unique leather items, unlike those of other brands. Its activities are diverse, including product consulting for Paris Collection brands and launching collaborative brands with artists.

This season's new items include room sprays and refill bottles in three refreshing citrus scents – "Amadai" (sweet orange), "Houri" (pineapple), and "Iyokan" – as well as candles.

With an awareness of blending Japanese seasonal scents with alluring Western fragrances, the director himself spent six months to a year meticulously blending the scents. The lids of the room sprays are handmade, featuring a unique柿渋染め (persimmon tannin dyeing) on cherry wood. These items are designed not for disposability, but to be cherished and to develop character over time.

To reduce environmental impact, refill bottles are also released simultaneously. Their stylish packaging allows them to be displayed attractively in any room. The candles are housed in vessels wrapped in high-quality goatskin. Designed to serve as interior decor even after use, they are available in simple yet distinctive black and white.
