In 2016, adidas plans to focus on the women’s sports market, launching new products and engaging in various activities targeting women. The first offering in this initiative is the “PureBOOST X,” a running shoe designed exclusively for women. This running shoe, symbolizing this new endeavor, will be available at the adidas online shop, all adidas directly managed stores, adidas RUNBASE, and select adidas retailers.

Jennifer Thomas, Senior Director of Global Running, commented, “During the development period with female athletes, the most frequent requests were for functionality that maximizes performance while maintaining stylishness. The PureBOOST X is a product that achieves an exquisite balance of innovative functionality and stylishness, meeting the demands of various female athletes.”

One of the secrets to improving running performance is the original material “BOOST™ Foam,” used in 80 percent of the midsole, which combines the seemingly contradictory characteristics of cushioning and responsiveness. This new material provides superior cushioning and responsiveness in any environment compared to conventional materials, allowing female runners with less muscle strength to run comfortably.



The shoe's form adopts a completely new structure, the “ARCH SUPPORT SYSTEM,” which breaks from conventional norms to comfortably fit the arch of any woman's foot. By boldly separating the midfoot's upper and midsole, it provides an unprecedented fit while simultaneously enhancing breathability.

Furthermore, the upper material uses a stretch mesh that softly wraps the foot, creating a slim, tightened look around the ankle when worn. This achieves a sharp appearance that is suitable not only for running but also for walking around town.
