VICTORINOX | Introducing "TOMO," a Multitool with a Fresh New Image
VICTORINOX | A New Image for the Multitool
Where Japanese Creativity Meets Swiss Quality
Introducing a New Rectangular Multitool
For 127 years, VICTORINOX, synonymous with the Swiss Army Knife and known for its unchanging design, has turned its attention to the Japanese market to launch a new project. They've partnered with ABITAX, led by product designer Kazuma Yamaguchi. The result is the multitool "TOMO," which redefines the traditional VICTORINOX image.

A colorful range of seven variations that redefines the Swiss Army Knife
ABITAX is known for its product label that imbues everyday items like portable ashtrays, coin cases, and key cases with exceptional portability and functional beauty, achieving long-life design. For this project, Kazuma Yamaguchi removed the "knife" symbol from the form, aiming to create an object that women, as well as men, could use casually without hesitation. He arrived at a shape that lacks symbolic representation—a "rectangular object." The name "TOMO" was chosen with the sentiment, "I want to be a helpful presence, like a good friend, always by your side."
ABITAX also handled the packaging, using environmentally friendly materials (100% recycled pulp). The color variations include seven options: Victorinox Red, White, Pink, Apple Green, Mint Green, Capri Blue, and Yellow Lemon. These are not only practical for everyday use but their unique form and colors also make them a welcome gift.
