Featuring "NEXT FIELD / A New Place" as its theme, with many works premiering in Japan
"People who create things and experiences for someone, for something, and their designs and ideas"──Any Tokyo is a design event that brings together such "future designs and ideas." In addition to inviting contemporary artists active worldwide, including exhibitors from Milan Salone, it also aims for a broad range of exhibitions through open calls for submissions.
Any Tokyo 2014 will run for ten days from Saturday, October 25th to Monday, November 3rd (public holiday). This year's theme is "NEXT FIELD / A New Place." It focuses on individuals who create new value across various fields and industries, fostering contemplation on the future of design.
Furthermore, a significant feature of 2014 is the selection of Zojoji Temple as the new venue. Zojoji Temple, founded in 1393 (Meitoku 4) as the Tokugawa family's mausoleum, is a cultural heritage site that has been preserved through repeated reconstructions over more than 600 years. The event promises an exciting fusion of the history embedded in this venerable site with the forward-looking imagination inherent in cutting-edge design, industry, and art that garners global attention.
The lineup of confirmed exhibitors is already impressive.New work "Balloon Chair"Exhibitors include h220430 (Satoshi Itasaka), who garnered attention at Milan Salone with his new work "Balloon Chair," Jin Kuramoto x Claesson Koivisto Rune, who will present works premiering in Japan, as well as OTOTO, Kenji Fukushima, and Manabu Takasu.
This is sure to be one of the most anticipated events of this year's Design Week.
