Featuring Representative Works and New Items, Some Unveiled in Japan for the First Time

The design duo GamFratesi, comprised of Enrico Fratesi, born in Italy, and Stine Gam, born in Denmark, was formed in 2006. Based in Copenhagen, they quickly gained attention for their poetic and rich style, blending Nordic and Southern European cultures.

Often juxtaposing contrasting elements, they create unexpected new ideas and collaborate with brands ranging from established to emerging. Their work includes not only Danish brands like Fredericia and UBI but also collaborations with French brand Ligne Roset, Stockholm-based Swedese, and Italian brands Casamania and Fontana Arte. In 2014, they were selected as Guest of Honor at the Stockholm Furniture Fair.

The Meaning Behind the Exhibition Title

They describe their furniture as "tools for communication," characterized by a sense of familiarity and an inviting tactile quality that evokes a subtle nostalgia.

Their creations are a harmonious fusion of Italian design, which has showcased innovative design trends globally, and Danish design, which cherishes the wisdom and techniques of its predecessors to build timeless masterpieces. Their "human-centric design" is praised as a crystallization of introspection, born from respect for the external world.

The current exhibition at CIBONE Aoyama showcases their representative works, including the "Haiku Low" sofa released by Fredericia, as well as pieces from Gubi, Swedese, Casamania, and CAPPELINI. It also features items being shown in Japan for the first time, alongside valuable sketches offering a glimpse into their design process.
