Original Designs from the Innovators of Italian Modernism
Zanotta offers furniture that beautifully fuses unique design with high functionality, such as the "SCIANGAI" coat hanger, reminiscent of the moment pasta is dropped into a pot, the "BUTTERFLY" coffee table with legs like linked butterflies, and the "SELLA," conceived by the Castiglioni brothers as a telephone stool.
Founded in 1954 by Aurelio Zanotta as a sofa manufacturer, Zanotta grew through its exceptional creativity, development capabilities, and technical expertise. In the 1960s, by actively collaborating with avant-garde young designers, the company forged its unique style, creating a sensation in the global design world.
A prime example of its design philosophy is "SACCO" (meaning "bag" in Italian). This groundbreaking mobile chair, a landmark in design history born in 1968, was inspired by the idea of filling a bag with polystyrene pellets for packaging. It perfectly embodied the pop culture and youthful spirit of freedom prevalent at the time. Awarded the Compasso d'Oro in 1979, it has been selected for the collections of institutions such as MoMA (The Museum of Modern Art, New York) and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
