“BE@RBRICK Primal Scream “screamadelica” 100% & 400%” and “MLE Primal Scream “screamadelica””

Last year, the rock band Primal Scream, who were a hot topic in various circles with their Japan tour including Summer Sonic and the Japanese release of "Bobby Gillespie Autobiography," will have their 1991 album "Screamadelica" released as BE@RBRICK and apparel items by Medicom Toy.
The album, their third overall and the band's first hit, is still highly regarded over 30 years after its release as a groundbreaking work that masterfully fused rock and acid house.
Here, we will introduce the background of the time when "Screamadelica" became an important work in the 1990s music scene, along with the items being released.

1991: An Eternal Masterpiece Born from the Fusion of Rock and Rave Culture

Primal Scream was formed in 1982 in Glasgow, Scotland, by Bobby Gillespie and Jim Beattie. In '84, they signed with Creation Records, run by their long-time friend Alan McGee. After releasing two singles, they released their first album "Sonic Flower Groove" in '87 on Warner/Elevations. While highly praised by the media as a quality guitar pop band, they did not achieve commercial success.
After Jim left the band, their second album "Primal Scream" released in '89 shifted to a garage rock sound. Popular DJ Andy Weatherall was a fan of the ballad "I'm Losing More Than I'll Ever Have" from that album. Weatherall was one of the key figures behind the explosive popularity of acid house in London in '88, and was active in a wide range of fields, starting with a fanzine called "BOY'S OWN" that covered music, fashion, and football.
Andy remixed "I'm Losing More Than I'll Ever Have" into a dance tune. The song, reborn with samples of Peter Fonda's line from "The Wild Angels," a film by B-movie king Roger Corman that became the prototype for American New Cinema-"We wanna be free to do what we wanna do. And we wanna get loaded."-and a phrase from The Emotions' "I Don't Want to Lose Your Love," became a huge hit upon its release in '90 under the new title "Loaded." It became a major anthem of rave culture, resonating with the Second Summer of Love and the Madchester movement.
Following the success of "Loaded," Andy also produced the album "Screamadelica." Jimmy Miller, The Orb, and Jah Wobble also participated in the album, and the primitive jacket designed by Paul Cannell also garnered attention. Around the same time, in America, Nirvana from Seattle was sparking the grunge movement, and the term "alternative rock" against commercialism was spreading among young people.
Primal Scream continues to be active today as a band that significantly changes its musical style with each album, but the brilliance of "Screamadelica," their first artistic peak, will likely never fade.
Among the items released this time are a knit crewneck sweater and knit scarf from "KNIT GANG COUNCIL," a collaboration between the popular knitting artist Horiuchi and Medicom Toy. Let's relive the fervor of the youth of that era who dedicated everything to music by decorating your room with BE@RBRICK and wearing the apparel.
