On the first floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building, the window display handled by House Industries showcases "Beginnings = Baccarat, The Trajectory of its Creation." On the fifth floor, the special exhibition hall presents "Present = Enthralled by Harcourt," and on the first floor, The Stage features "Future = Light Towards Tomorrow."──From Wednesday, October 24th to Tuesday, November 6th, immerse yourself in the allure of Baccarat, curated by Isetan, at the main exhibition "Baccarat: From Beginning to Future," held across various floors of the Isetan Shinjuku Main and Men's Buildings.

Isetan Shinjuku is once again participating in DESIGNTIDE TOKYO 2012 as a tide extension. This year's theme, "Voice of Material," invites us to listen to the voices of exquisite materials passed down through time, and to cherish and enjoy creations filled with humanity. A program brimming with playful ingenuity, made possible by the inherent power of these materials, will unfold.

Baccarat, approaching its 250th anniversary in 2014, presents "Beginnings: Baccarat, Legend of Creation ~ The Trajectory of its Creation ~." This section focuses on artisans and designers, showcasing collaborations with great designers inspired by the magic of Baccarat crystal.
This exhibition particularly highlights the "Rencontre Collection," featuring 11 designers who played pivotal roles in Baccarat's history from the modernist era onwards, focusing on their designs and techniques. Their "Voice = Words" embedded in the works are introduced, quoted from design concepts and interviews at the time of their release, and uniquely edited by Isetan.
Furthermore, the American design collective "House Industries" is responsible for the window displays that bring these words to life. In the main building's first-floor show window, the "Voice = Words" of 11 designers—Georges Chevalier, Thomas Bastide, Savinel & Rozé, Mathias, Ettore Sottsass, Philippe Starck, Arik Levy, Michele De Lucchi, Jaime Hayon, Marcel Wanders, and Patricia Urquiola—will be exhibited alongside their Baccarat creations. House Industries expresses the "Voice" of these 11 designers through fonts designed as homages to each of them.
House Industries
A typography design collective expanding its reach beyond the industry into two and three dimensions, graphics, art, fashion, and music. Founded in 1993 by Andy Cruz and Rich Roat, their method of designing the most familiar element of daily life – 'letters' – from various perspectives and then applying them to everyday 'objects' through their unique filter has garnered a fervent global following, transcending the boundaries of American subculture.

Nendo, led by Oki Sato, has breathed new life into Baccarat's crystal. The iconic "Harcourt" series, first introduced in 1841, has been reimagined into two distinct worlds: "Ice" and "Fusion," offering a glimpse into Baccarat's 248-year history.
Particularly noteworthy is "Ice," where Baccarat artisans re-cut the edges of finished Harcourt pieces and treated them with acid, creating a finish that resembles melting ice. Its timeless aesthetic is a must-see for Baccarat enthusiasts.

From Wednesday, October 31st, "Light Towards Tomorrow ~"PARTS" ~ Find Happiness in Owning a Single Piece ~" will be held. This exhibition and sale features works created freely by 16 artists using individual crystal chandelier parts, focusing on the brilliance and weight of each piece.
This marks Baccarat's first-ever focus on individual parts globally. Don't miss the Isetan-exclusive items made with crystal chandelier parts.
