From Leisure Time to Work Mode in an Instant!
"Surface," Microsoft's first proprietary PC brand, has garnered significant attention. On October 25th of this year, the second generation of "Surface," hailed as the most successful Windows tablet since the brand's inception, was released as "Surface 2." At this limited-time showroom, it is a star attraction alongside the "Surface Pro 2," which is equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor.
The newly released tablet, "Surface 2," boasts a dramatic improvement in basic hardware performance, including CPU power and screen resolution, compared to its predecessor. It stands as a leading device in the Windows RT 8.1 tablet generation. Notably, its inclusion of Office 2013 RT, which includes Outlook, makes it highly appealing for quickly switching to work mode while on the go.
Furthermore, it features an improved "two-stage kickstand" for enhanced usability and expanded ports, including HD video output. Weighing just 676 grams and measuring a mere 8.9 millimeters thick, it is compact yet durable, capable of up to 10 hours of video playback.
The "Surface 2" is available in 32GB and 64GB internal storage versions. The 32GB model is priced at 44,800 yen, and the 64GB model at 54,800 yen (keyboard sold separately).
The Lifestyle Shift Brought by the Latest Tablet
At the opening event held prior to the "Surface Omotesando Showroom" launch, Yasuyuki Higuchi, President of Microsoft Japan, stated, "The Surface tablet is selling well, with some models experiencing shortages. We want visitors to fully experience the newly announced Surface 2. We've established this showroom in Omotesando, a hub for trends and fashion, as a place to gather various feedback."
The showroom, facing Omotesando, displays two models: "Surface 2" and "Surface Pro 2." Inside, comfortable sofa seating and desks bathed in natural light are provided. Visitors can not only experience the tablets firsthand but also learn about various ways to enjoy them using accessories like the Type Cover 2 and Touch Cover 2, which double as screen protectors.
While purchases cannot be made at the showroom, assistance is provided for online reservations and purchases. Customers can use their existing point cards for purchases, and those who reserve or purchase through the showroom will receive a Bluetooth mouse as a special gift.
