Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera "α7R II"
Sony will release the full-frame mirrorless camera "α7R II" (Alpha Seven R Mark Two) on Friday, August 7th. It features a newly developed image sensor with approximately 42.4 million effective pixels, a wide sensitivity range, and high-speed autofocus (AF) performance, delivering superior imaging power in all scenes, from twilight landscapes to moving subjects.

The "Exmor R" Image Sensor: Versatile High-Quality Performance
The "α7R II" is equipped with the world's first full-frame back-illuminated "Exmor R" CMOS image sensor, achieving high-resolution shooting with approximately 42.4 million effective pixels. It also features built-in, optical 5-axis image stabilization to counteract camera shake, minimizing its impact on image quality.
Furthermore, a brake mechanism has been added to the shutter to enable low-vibration shutter operation, minimizing shake even during handheld shooting. The sensor also omits a low-pass filter, allowing for the capture of images with exceptional resolution. Light-gathering capability has been improved, expanding the sensitivity range and enabling noise-free rendering even at high ISO settings. You can achieve the "convincing image quality" that fully leverages the performance of the full-frame, high-resolution image sensor.
The evolution of the image sensor extends to its focusing capabilities. With a world-leading 399 phase-detection AF points on the image plane, AF accuracy has been enhanced. Simultaneously, thanks to the high-speed processing of the image sensor and the "BIONZ X" image processing engine, AF response performance has been increased by approximately 40 percent compared to previous models.
Exceptional Durability and Evolved Operability
The camera body utilizes lightweight yet robust magnesium alloy for the top cover, front cover, internal frame, and rear cover, ensuring a highly rigid mount structure and excellent durability. The grip and release button have been designed for comfortable handling, and a dial lock mechanism is employed, contributing to the body's high durability and reliable operational controls.
The built-in viewfinder is the world's largest "XGA OLED Tru-Finder" with a magnification of 0.78x. It features a newly designed four-element lens system, including dual aspherical elements. This Tru-Finder is treated with "ZEISS T* Coating" to suppress reflections and render subjects with exceptional clarity.
