An Exhibition to Experience SUPPOSE DESIGN OFFICE's Philosophy
Based in both Hiroshima and Tokyo, SUPPOSE DESIGN OFFICE undertakes a wide range of work, including residential spaces, commercial areas, exhibition designs, landscapes, and product art installations. They currently have numerous projects in progress both domestically and internationally, spanning interiors, residences, and complex facilities.
Their portfolio includes well over 100 residential projects alone. They have also garnered attention for their work in creating connections with communities, such as the light installation "Luceste : TOSHIBA LED LIGHTING" at the 2010 Milan Salone, public facilities like "Machi no Hoikuen" (The Town Nursery), and most recently, the opening of "ONOMICHI U2," a complex facility in Hiroshima created by renovating a former shipping warehouse.
The current exhibition, "MULTIPLE SCALE," is based on SUPPOSE DESIGN OFFICE's philosophy that "architecture considers parts of the city, interiors consider parts of architecture, furniture considers parts of a room, and products consider parts of furniture." It extends this to encompass "considering the environment surrounding objects."
They aim to convey the appeal of architecture across scales to society by carefully examining the relationship with the environment in everything from large architectural projects to small products, and by considering these relationships in their design process.
Featuring the New Product "KT -kata-"
Additionally, this exhibition unveils "KT -kata-," a new product series resulting from a collaboration between SUPPOSE DESIGN OFFICE and KAMO CRAFT.
This product series redesigns standard steel materials, typically used for columns and beams, into new forms that integrate into daily life through subtle modifications. It embodies the question: "To what extent is design necessary when opposing elements like 'industry and life' coexist?"
These products are designed to evoke a sensory response, shaping the essence of objects through addition and subtraction, and transforming the inherent concepts of materials into tangible forms.
