An Opportunity to Reconsider Your Own Way of Life

"Koya Tenjijo," Japan's first event of its kind, offers a chance to experience cabin living in a way similar to visiting a "housing exhibition." It runs from October 4th (Saturday) to October 13th (Monday, holiday). Through cabins, the origin of housing, the event aims to be a space for contemplating the kind of life one wishes to live and one's own unique lifestyle.

Exhibitors include a team from greenz.jp led by CEO Nao Suzuki and Co. editor-in-chief, a team comprising Tomohiko Yoneda, editor-in-chief of Lifehacker Japan, and Ryoko Ando of Design Musica, along with Maket and Makoto Tanijiri's team, totaling 14 participants. The lineup is diverse, featuring architects, builders, interior designers, and organizations involved in soft content.

The exhibited cabins will also be available for purchase on-site, with plans for sales on the special SuMiKa website after the exhibition concludes (some exclusions apply). Like a housing exhibition, the venue will host various events, including Super Sentai shows, for visitors to enjoy.

Exhibitor: TAMAHOME CORPORATION
Title: KOMORU
"It allows you to temporarily disconnect from daily life by 'retreating' into your garden. The structure uses the traditional Japanese Itakura-zukuri method, composed simply of axes and planes. By eliminating unnecessary decoration and making components modular, it's like an 'adult's real plastic model' that residents can freely arrange. This time, we've created a hideaway for adults, like a secret base for hobbies. Furthermore, greening the roof helps prevent rising temperatures on the roof surface, providing environmental benefits."

Exhibitor: J-STYLE GARAGE Co., Ltd.
Title: Assembled Cabin from Canada! "Boathouse" for ¥520,000!
"The 'Cedar Shed' series of wooden cabins are sold as kits! Despite their robust construction, they are easy to assemble with their panel system. The exterior is made of solid red cedar, blending seamlessly with garden greenery. The walls and ceiling are entirely solid wood, with endless possibilities for attaching hooks and shelves! Feel free to paint it in your favorite color."

Exhibitors: CREW INC. (48PRODUCT) + MORITA ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN + COUNTRY BASE INC.
Title: HOUSE INNER BOX
"We conceived this cabin from the inside out. It's a tiny house with an outer panel attached to the 'House Inner®,' a self-supporting spatial composition frame that allows for flexible interior use. By attaching custom panels and products, it can accommodate various hobbies. House Inner® uses patented technology for a self-supporting structure that requires no foundation work or anchoring, allowing for DIY assembly. Furthermore, this cabin includes an entrance to a secret base!"

Exhibitor: Kenei Co., Ltd.
Title: Go-sui - A Bed That Doesn't Soothe
"Afternoon nap. A meaning of dozing off... Lying on your back, gazing at the sky. Resting your head on your elbow, looking out the window. Leaning against the wall, reading a book. This is a cabin where moments of blissful absorption and invigorating clarity coexist."

Exhibitors: Tomohiko Yoneda (Editor-in-Chief, Lifehacker Japan) + Ryoko Ando (Design Musica)
Title: In & Out & Go (Gō)
"Integrating the Japanese sensibility of fitting beauty and function into small spaces, akin to a tea room, with the inner (lazy) desires of modern people connected to the internet – the wish for 'a space where everything is within reach and one can linger,' and the desire for 'one's own study or office' – this is a conceptual 'cabin work' that realizes the diverse 'wishes' of modern people."

Exhibitor: Momoyama Construction Co., Ltd.
Title: COBACO
"A secret base in a compact 4.5-tatami mat space, unattainable in daily life. Why not imagine something wonderful, like a hobby space, a shop, or an open-air bath? 'COBACO,' realized with specifications similar to a regular house, will bring excitement to your life. In this exhibition, we've envisioned a shared room for a father and son."

Koya Tenjijo 08

Exhibitor: Montbell Co., Ltd.
Title: BAREBONES
"BAREBONES was founded by Robert Workman, the founder of portable solar power brand 'GOAL ZERO,' based on his experiences in developing countries. With the development concept of 'comfort like being at home, even outdoors,' it proposes a completely new camping style (glamping). It offers high durability suitable not only for camping but also as a permanent tent or an emergency shelter during disasters."

Exhibitors: Nao Suzuki (CEO, greenz.jp / Co. Editor-in-Chief) + YADOKARI
Title: A Laboratory for Small Living, Built Together
"After the era of 'more and more of bigger things' and mass consumption, more people are choosing a 'small life' that fits their means. A smaller life means less energy consumption and a simpler mindset and lifestyle, but it takes courage to actually take action. While one might not be able to immediately adopt a small life, a 'cabin' offers a space for various experiments. We will build it together, share the experimental results together. This is a cabin where the building process and budget are all shared."

Koya Tenjijo 10

Exhibitors: Natsumi Kumi Inc. + Baum Co., Ltd.
Title: Ichijou House
"Camping, picnics, reading in the park. What do you bring when you want to relax outdoors? 'Ichijou House' is a portable cabin. You can enjoy the 'cabin feel' anywhere, whether by the sea or in the mountains. It offers a different experience than tents or picnic sheets. It's the perfect size for one person to lie down and read, or for two people to share a bento. Of course, it can also be set up indoors as a study or a bed."

Koya Tenjijo 11

Exhibitor: Hirokenko Co., Ltd.
Title: Kisumu - A House to Live in Wood
"Creative power begins here. It's a space where you can immerse yourself in your favorite creative pursuits, such as making crafts, gardening, furniture, or clothing. Displaying your creations, relaxing, or taking them out to play. Exciting experiences start here."

Koya Tenjijo 12

Exhibitors: Tokyu Hands Inc. + Cube Style Inc.
Title: HANDS WORK BOOTH
"To 'create it yourself' is to face your lifestyle. This cabin is a dedicated space for enjoying a creative life. While categorized as a 'storage shed,' this compact space of approximately 9m² features a robust steel frame structure and walls equipped with standard pegboards and shelf supports, allowing for flexible arrangement and display of cherished tools."

Koya Tenjijo 13

Exhibitor: Nichinan Tekko Co., Ltd.
Title: C-Style House
"A new type of architecture using steel known as 'C-channel steel' due to its C-shaped cross-section. Our unique construction method allows the thin and lightweight C-channel steel to be used for structural columns and beams. While low-cost, it excels in design and interior aesthetics, offering design flexibility. It creates a comfortable space for residents. Design and construction are possible for various scales, from general housing to cabins, apartment buildings, and commercial facilities."

Koya Tenjijo 14

Exhibitors: Makoto Tanijiri + MaKeT
Title: case study house: MAKET CABIN_01
"True to MaKeT's concept of 'easy to build yourself,' we've created a cabin module that combines minimalist design with comfortable living. Its flexibility is a major draw, allowing for customizable window placement for ventilation and light, and the choice of soft tops depending on climate and usage. Cabin 01 is also a case study for the new standards of future 'living.' Let's build a house through self-building!"
