Fernando & Humberto Campana, the Brazilian-born design duo, are among the most significant figures in contemporary Latin American design. Based in São Paulo, they are celebrating two decades of creative activity. Currently, the Vitra Design Museum in Switzerland is hosting an exhibition tracing their career. To honor their achievements, a special commemorative collection has arrived in Japan.

A Book and a Chair That Inspire Reflection on Design's Societal Role
The Campana brothers' conceptual works, often created using common materials through surrealist recycling methods, frequently confront contemporary society. Within their innovative forms, they embed profound social commentary.
The exhibition at the Vitra Design Museum is accompanied by the release of "Antibodies," a publication showcasing their work over the past 20 years, enriched with comments from collaborators and the designers themselves.

Named after the Portuguese word for slum or shantytown, the "Favela" chair draws inspiration from the structures of favela dwellings. It is constructed from fragments of discarded wood. While addressing Brazil's social issues, the use of salvaged wood transforms these fragments into an elegant and beautiful object. This miniature "Favela" is remarkably detailed, a testament to their craftsmanship.
