Makoto Tanijiri | "odekakeTHINK_44" Guest: Masanori Yokokawa
The vision behind "shima SHOP," a new establishment in Setouchi offering a rich array of clothing, food, and living essentials.
"odekakeTHINK_46" held at "ONOMICHI U2" with Masaki Yokokawa
The 46th THINK event is an "odekakeTHINK" to "ONOMICHI U2," a new complex facility centered around a hotel for cyclists that allows bicycles to be brought into rooms, along with a restaurant, select shop, gallery, and event space. As a commemorative event for the opening of "shima SHOP" within "ONOMICHI U2," we welcome Masaki Yokokawa, CEO of Welcome Inc., which operates the store, as our guest.

The shared "craftsmanship" between Yokokawa and Tanijiri
Masaki Yokokawa, who also serves as the representative of DEAN & DELUCA JAPAN. Yokokawa, who has loved the act of buying things since his student days and describes himself as a "born buyer," first established the interior shop "George's" in 2000, and opened the lifestyle shop "CIBONE" the following year.
In 2003, he launched "DEAN & DELUCA" in Japan with the aim of delivering the message "Living with Food" – bringing the inherent beauty of food to everyone. Experiencing food is experiencing life. The store offers everything from international ingredients to traditional Japanese foods.
Two years ago, he launched "TODAY’S SPECIAL," a new type of lifestyle shop that combines the strengths of his previous interior brands with food-focused brands. In this THINK session, we hope to delve into the vision behind the new shop, "shima SHOP."
We invite you to enjoy a conversation born from the shared "craftsmanship" between Yokokawa, who creates shops, and Tanijiri, who creates buildings, as well as the scenery of Setouchi harmonizing with "ONOMICHI U2."
