PASS THE BATON
A Recycle Shop in Marunouchi!?
PASS THE BATON: A Concept Shop Featuring Esteemed Creators
A new style of recycle shop, based on the concept of "cherishing what already exists and passing on individual culture," opened on September 3rd at Marunouchi Brick Square in Tokyo. Simultaneously, an online shop was launched on its website. Its name is "PASS THE BATON." Just as a baton is passed from person to person, it aims for a sustainable, circular society. From the past to the future—

A "Baton" in a New Style, Where Items Can Be Listed with Their Background and Anecdotes
Nations and nations. Or companies and companies. When they face each other, while finding "value," they have also often produced "conflict" as a byproduct. Eventually, these frictions have alternately repeated "oversupply" and "excessive disappearance" of goods, placing a great burden on the earth... "PASS THE BATON" was established with the aim of "finding value in individual cultural differences" as one solution to these problems.
PASS THE BATON is a "marketplace" for individual culture itself. Through its physical store and web shop, it provides a space for interaction between sellers and consumers. Items are listed along with the seller's photos, profile, and the background or anecdotes of the item. Becoming a PASS THE BATON member makes it easy to participate, just like a flea market. Sales from here can also be donated to charity. It's truly "NEW RECYCLE."
The store, which makes effective use of its high ceilings, offers original shirts and jackets, as well as used clothing, accessories, and interior products collected from people both domestically and internationally. A wide selection of items from the tie brand "giraffe" is also available.
The operation is managed by Smile Co., which also runs the soup specialty store "Soup Stock Tokyo." Representative Masamichi Toyama serves as producer, with Masamichi Katayama (Wonderwall) handling interior design, Yugo Nakamura and Yosuke Abe (tha) handling web design, Ryosuke Uehara and Yoshie Watanabe (D-BROS) handling art direction, and Yu Yamada (method) serving as MD coordinator. Many renowned creators and directors participated.
Two weeks after opening, the store's appearance has already changed significantly, vividly conveying the rapid turnover of merchandise. Stories are born one after another today, as goods and people interact and weave narratives. While looking forward to the future of "PASS THE BATON," which has introduced a new concept, we also reflect on the future we desire.
