Focus on Woodwork, Washi Paper, and Pottery from "Kobo Shobu"
Shinichiro Nakamura, representative of the design team Landscape Products, and Kenichiro Kawabata, representative of FACTORY1202, which handles furniture production, have opened a store in their hometown of Kagoshima, which can be said to be the culmination of their activities to date.
The store is named "DWELL playmountain." The interior, a renovated old stone warehouse with a clear view of Sakurajima, one of Kagoshima's symbols, showcases a multifaceted range of past activities, including Playmountain, TAS YARD, CHIGO, and PAPIER LABO.
In the space where the wooden support beams are exposed, a large chandelier welcomes visitors. The first floor features a spacious cafe area and a selection of household goods.
Landscape Products is known for "Man Made Objects." With the theme of "objects where human ingenuity is fully expressed," they have collected products from around the world with a unique perspective. Now, with the opening of DWELL playmountain, new items have been added: woodwork, washi paper, and pottery created at "Kobo Shobu."
"Kobo Shobu" is a workshop within "Shobu Gakuen," a welfare facility in Kagoshima for individuals with Down syndrome, autism, and intellectual disabilities. The unpretentious works created by the residents are full of humor, dynamism, and delicacy. These are products that bring joy to daily life and have become popular since the opening of DWELL playmountain.

Upstairs on the second floor is a luxurious space for apparel and furniture. There is a kids' house that children will love, a collaborative work by design unit Gelchop and Factory1202. For furniture, in addition to standard items, they will also propose originals that emphasize the individuality of the user. DWELL playmountain caters to all aspects of life, from food and clothing to housing, and can be enjoyed by all age groups. This newly established lifestyle shop prompts a re-evaluation of what enriches our lives and will likely take root as a cultural presence in this region.
