Childhood memories, tinged with sepia, still warm our hearts with a bittersweet, sweet-and-sour feeling. "36 (Sublo)" is a small stationery shop located in Kichijoji. As children, the shelves of stationery shops, lined with colorful colored pencils, pens, and notebooks and goods adorned with fancy illustrations, always felt like treasure chests.



Nostalgic stationery that evokes the feeling of time-honored, handcrafted techniques. Because they are items we use every day, we want things that are filled with a warmth we can keep close. The wrapping paper and envelopes, made from vibrantly coloredグラシン紙 (glassine paper) rarely seen in Japan, are from their original brand, "mizushima." Mizushima is a simple yet deeply flavorful stationery brand created by the owner's friend, a designer who loves polka dots, and the owner of Sublo, who favors stripes. It has now expanded nationwide.

The small store is packed with charming, nostalgic, and tasteful items. As adults, the reason these items feel so fresh isn't just simple nostalgia; it's perhaps because their inherent, unadorned quality as objects connects to something universal, like purity, reminding us of something important we've forgotten in our hurried daily lives.

The shop's name originates from the owner's grandfather, who ran a stationery store. A small framed photograph displayed inside the shop is filled with cherished family memories. What's there is not only personal family memories but also the ephemeral, irreplaceable, special memories that have been cherished by the community as a neighborhood stationery shop and connected to the memories of everyone who lives there—memories we must not forget.
