Overnight Trip Packages to Enjoy Takaoka in Two Days
In Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, a craft town with 400 years of history dedicated to "craftsmanship" such as casting and lacquerware, the Takaoka Craft Ichiba - Machi event offers an opportunity to encounter high-quality crafts from around the country while enjoying the atmospheric "townscapes" and local "cuisine." Approximately 35 venues in the central Takaoka city area, including the "Yamacho-suji" and "Kanaya-cho" districts, designated as Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings, will serve as the event grounds.
The five days of festivities will feature programs centered around the exhibition of award-winning works from the "Takaoka Craft Competition," which boasts 28 years of history. In addition to exhibitions and shops by craft artists from across the country and traditional Takaoka industry manufacturers, new craft experiences through collaborations between food and crafts, and factory tours of "manufacturing" sites, this year also includes an expanded lineup of "experiential" programs such as "craftsmanship workshops," interactive art installations, and two-day overnight tours.
Two tour packages are available: "Takaoka Crafturismo," which explores artisans and workshops, and "Takaoka Craft Ichiba - Machi Tour," which allows participants to fully enjoy the market town and Takaoka. For detailed information, please visit the official website.
