Exhibition at Aoyama "Interiors" from September 8 (Thu) to October 29 (Sat)
The new pieces in "Junya Ishigami" were originally launched in 2010 by the top Italian design brand "LIVING DIVANI." The collection, born from a fusion of Ishigami's unique designs and LIVING DIVANI's advanced, cutting-edge technology, emanates a rich creativity and a warm atmosphere. Having garnered attention at the Milan Salone and been featured in numerous European media outlets, this collection makes its debut in Japan.
Junya Ishigami
Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1974. Completed his Master's degree in Architecture at Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School in 2000. Worked at Kazuyo Sejima & Associates from 2000 to 2004. Established Junya Ishigami Architects in 2004. Major works include "Table" (2005, Kirin Art Project 2005 Kirin Award winner), "Balloon" (2007), KAIT Workshop at Kanagawa Institute of Technology (2008, 2009 Architectural Institute of Japan Prize winner), solo exhibition at the Japan Pavilion of the 11th Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition in 2008, and the Golden Lion for the 12th Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition's exhibition of the national participation in 2010.
The "Family Chair" collection, comprising five types of chairs, embodies the concept of "chairs that harmonize like family." While each possesses a distinct personality, they coexist harmoniously as a family. The structure consists of 12mm steel pipes precisely curved and welded to 15mm steel pipe legs. The seat is made of 3mm steel, woven into a 40x40mm parallelogram mesh. Available in an indoor version with a resin coating and an outdoor version with an electro-coating, optional cushions tailored to each seat can also be selected. Starting from ¥79,800 per chair.
The "Garden Plate" is designed to "create a landscape in the living room." By placing objects resembling human forms in the indentations, along with plants or sweets, and using the flat surfaces for candles, teacups, or plates, a miniature world is formed. This table, made of 8mm thick, highly transparent glass with a sandblasted finish, is formed by pouring glass into heat-resistant molds and melting and solidifying it in a furnace at 750-800 degrees Celsius. (W1200 x D1130mm) Starting from ¥567,000.
"Interiors," which opened in Aoyama this March, is a renovation of an old building constructed in 1988, with its timeless essence designed by Italian architect Piero Lissoni. The free and open 580-square-meter space across four floors offers a curated selection of high-quality interior items, including furniture, lighting, and lifestyle goods. The B1 floor features a concept room designed by Piero Lissoni, serving as a hub for human interaction, complete with a library area and a雑貨 (zakka) corner that doubles as a gallery.
