Shop Concept: "Fission & Fusion"
HOSOO boasts a history of approximately 400 years, having been founded as a textile business in Kyoto's Nishijin district during the Genroku era. HOSOO, which has been involved in the wholesale of Nishijin-ori obi sashes and kimonos, as well as prestigious works by Living National Treasure artists, Japanese crafts made with the skill of Kyoto's master artisans, and active collaborations with international designers, has opened HOSOO KYOTO, a flagship store transmitting from Kyoto to the world in pursuit of further development.
The shop's theme is "Contemporary NISHIJIN." The concept of "FISSION" refers to breaking down traditional crafts, which are superior comprehensive Japanese arts, and extracting only elements such as various techniques and aesthetics. "FUSION" refers to re-fusing these elements based on contemporary values.
At HOSOO KYOTO, we offer fashion items such as original bags, jewelry, and accessories based on Nishijin-ori, home fragrances including candles, eye pillows & sachets, and bath selections, as well as interior items such as chairs, cushions, and table runners.
We draw attention to the new and challenging items that attempt to re-fuse Nishijin-ori, its artisanal techniques, materials, and aesthetics, with contemporary values.
