The New RICOH CX Series Model Arrives

The CX series, long popular as a compact digital camera that made RICOH quality accessible, is getting its latest iteration. The new model, the "CX5," will be released on February 10th. Featuring a hybrid AF system for faster autofocus speeds, its responsiveness has been significantly enhanced.

Never Miss a Shot with Faster Autofocus

The new CX5 is equipped with RICOH's proprietary hybrid AF system. This system achieves an autofocus convergence time of as little as 0.2 seconds across the entire zoom range, from wide-angle 28mm to telephoto 300mm – up to half the time of its predecessor, the CX4. It ensures you can capture fleeting moments with certainty, no matter the zoom level. Furthermore, with "subject-tracking AF," the camera can automatically track a subject and maintain focus, enabling remarkably swift shooting with this latest model.

Additionally, the camera automatically distinguishes between image contours, details, and gradations, applying optimal processing to each to achieve high-resolution images. The pursuit of image quality has been enhanced in every aspect.

Despite its compact 29.4mm thickness, the zoom lens covers 28-300mm with 10.7x optical zoom. Combined with "extra resolution zoom," which allows up to 2x magnification with minimal image degradation, telephoto shooting up to an equivalent of 600mm, or 20x, is possible.

The camera also features a rich array of scene modes for easy setting adjustments, including Night Scene Portrait, Sports, and Zoom Macro. Three new shooting modes have been added: Food, Fireworks, and Golf Continuous Shooting, bringing the total selectable modes to 14.

As with previous models, it retains a variety of creative effects, such as Soft Focus mode to give subjects a gentler impression, Toy Camera mode for a retro feel, and Miniature mode to process landscapes like miniature photographs.

Furthermore, it now supports "Eye-Fi Card," a wireless LAN-equipped SD card, for the first time in the series, enabling wireless transfer to PCs and online photo albums.

Additionally, a "CX5 Introduction Campaign" will run from the release date of February 10th to May 9th. Both the referrer and the referred friend who purchase the CX5 during this period will receive a 2,500 yen cashback.
